MND Group secures snowmaking contract in Sweden

MND Group, through its subsidiary Sufag, has been chosen by the Swedish ski resort of Idre Himmelfjäll to build its snowmaking system. The contract includes the supply of 2 machine rooms and 120 snowguns, for a total of €3 million.

Idre Himmelfjäll, currently under construction, is a new resort near to the city of Salen that is due to open by Christmas next year; its ski area will feature an initial 22 ski slopes and 8 ski lifts from LEITNER ropeways. When all phases are complete the resort will have 50 slopes and 30 lifts.

MND has completed a number of other projects in Scandinavia recently, including 5 snowmaking projects involving the supply of 200 snowguns, the construction of a ski lift on the roof of a power plant in Copenhagen, and the supply of a chairlift to Kiruna and conveyor belts to several other Swedish ski resorts.

Earlier this month the French company was awarded a contract to develop a four-seasons leisure centre in the Zhangjiakou region of China.
