The Borovets resort in Bulgaria – a popular tourist destination throughout the year – is to install a 6-seater chairlift that will replace a 4-seater chairlift. Once complete, the chairlift will have a maximum capacity of 1400 people an hour. Georgi Kochov, CEO of Borovets, said: “This ropeway is a modern system, equipped with the latest trends in the sector, such as the LEITNER DirectDrive [a gearless drive system], and offering greater comfort for passengers and high safety standards. The cooperation with LEITNER ropeways is excellent, the team is competent, efficient and is always willing to help in any situation.”
In the north-west of Macedonia, the company is building a 6-seater chairlift at the Popova Šapka resort, approximately one hour’s drive from the capital Skopje. On the back of investment in the resort by a subsidiary of ELEM, an energy company, LEITNER is providing a garaging system and DirectDrive; the chairlift will have a capacity of 3000 people an hour.
At the Muntele Mic resort in Romania, a private investor is funding a new 4-seater chairlift along with three new slopes, one of which will be illuminated for night-time skiing. The chairlift, with a capacity of 1800 people an hour, will make a new area of the eastern side of the resort accessible for winter sports fans.
