Montenegro signs construction deal for 6-person chairlift

SeeNews is reporting that the government of Montenegro has signed an agreement with local company Novi Volvoks for the design and construction of a 6-person chairlift in the winter resort of Zarski, in the east of the country.

Montenegro plans to invest a total of €9 million (US$10.2 million) in the project, according to a government statement.

LEITNER ropeways is to be the manufacturer of the chairlift – the project is due to be completed in 12 months.

In December, Montenegro's government announced an €18 million investment in 6-person chairlifts, with a capacity of 2600 skiers per hour and tracks with a total length of 18.5 km, at the winter resorts of Kolasin 1600 and Zarski.

The government also plans to build ski tracks with a length of 9.5 km in Kolasin 1600 and 9 km in Zarski.

In January 2018, Prime Minister Dusko Markovic said Montenegro plans to invest €60 million by 2020 in improvements to the country's winter tourism infrastructure in the areas of Kolasin, Mojkovac and Bijelo Polje.
