The Oregonian is reporting that, following the purchase of Summit Ski Area in Government Camp, Oregon, US, by R.L.K. and Company, there is potential for a gondola or chairlift being built to connect Summit Ski Area with Timberline Lodge, which is also operated by R.L.K. and Company.

John Burton, a Timberline spokesman, confirmed that Timberline is looking into adding a chairlift or gondola that spans the two properties. He added however that if the project went ahead it would take between 5 – 10 years to accomplish, the first step being an environmental impact study that could take up to three years.

Burton went on to say that approximately a mile of gradual terrain separates the two permit areas, and there was probably no need for an extensive trail network if a chairlift were constructed; two trails already exist and a third would need to be cut to accommodate the chairlift.
