As reported by the Otago Daily Times, the Remarkables skifield in New Zealand is aiming to upgrade its Sugar Bowl chairlift.

NZSki Ltd, which operates the Remarkables, has applied for resource consent for a new 6-seater chairlift to replace the current 4-seater lift, installed in 1986.

If given approval, the new 1.05km-long lift would start in the car park area next to the base building and extend slightly further than the existing lift.

A temporary access track would need to be built to allow for machinery to install the lower lift tower platform.

NZSki has declined to comment further on the plans until consent is granted.
