Doppelmayr signs agreement to develop Russian ski resorts

Doppelmayr and the Russian corporation Kurorty Severnogo Kavkasa have signed a cooperation agreement in Vienna, Austria, with the intention of developing tourism at three ski resorts in the North Caucasian Federal District, Russia.

The ski resorts are Arkhyz in Karachay-Cherkessia, Elbrus in Kabardino-Balkaria and the new resort of Veduchi in Chechnya, which opened less than six months ago.

Thomas Pichler, Joint Managing Director of Doppelmayr Seilbahnen GmbH, said: “Every individual ropeway project that we accomplish with our Russian customers is a building block for tourism development.”

Maksim Sinelnikov, head of Doppelmayr Russia Ltd, the manufacturer’s Russian subsidiary in Samara, commented: “Our products and what we have to offer make us a dependable partner for Russia.”

Doppelmayr has been present in the Russian market for over 20 years and now has two local sites – in Sochi and Samara. The company built 40 ropeway installations for the 2014 Winter Olympic Games in Sochi.
