Work on the installation of two new cable cars at the Maria Alm ski resort in Austria is ongoing.
In addition, snowmaking capabilities are being boosted through the installation of ductile iron pipes, manufactured by Tiroler Rohre GmbH (TRM).
Pipes in dimensions DN 80 to DN 300 and 9 km in length are required for the project – these pipes were chosen for their high pressure resistance, lifetime and longitudinal restrained VRS®-T connection at the assignment.
In order to provide an appropriate water reservoir a new storage with a volume of 65 000 m3 is also required, meaning the top stations of the cable cars need to be rebuilt 400 m higher than their present location.
Construction work is due to be completed by the beginning of the 2019 – 2020 winter season.
