As reported by, the Taranaki skifield in New Zealand has taken delivery of a new snow groomer, which will allow it to open more often throughout the upcoming winter season.

The Stratford Mountain Club, a non-profit organisation which manages the skifield, replaced its old PistenBully 60 groomer with a Husky Prinoth.

The groomer had to be airlifted in parts to the Manganui Skifield last week, as the engine and chassis alone weighed 1600 kg, and even smaller parts weighed 300 or 400 kg each; there is only foot access to the skifield.

The groomer should be ready to begin operating in 1 - 3 weeks.
