The Sarajevo Times is reporting that the ski resort of Jahorina, Bosnia and Herzegovina, is to begin constructing Europe’s longest mountain coaster this summer.
With a planned length of 2.5 km, the ride is intended to boost visitor numbers during the summer season.
Dejan Ljevnaic, Director of the Jahorina Olympic Centre, said at a press conference: “After the contracts are signed, in the coming days, we will start preparing the site and starting the works. The starting station is near the large lake at the top of the mountain, which will be arranged with new walking trails, benches and [a] summer camp…all with the aim for the mountain to live for 365 days and to achieve good results during the summer.”
A 1100 m, 10-seater gondola lift is also due to be added along with three new ski slopes.
Ljevnaic added: “The Gondola on Jahorina will provide more comfortable transport for skier, and 10 people can be transported in gondola, and it will be tailored to people with special needs, and by this, we will give a new dimension to Jahorina.”
