Following its recent acquisition by Mountain Capital Partners, the Nordic Valley resort in Utah, US, is planning to expand from 140 acres to over 2800 acres, install a new 4.3 mile-long gondola and upgrade its snowmaking capabilities.
The gondala will connect North Ogden to the existing Nordic Valley base area; it is also hoped that it will help cut down on canyon traffic and vehicle emissions.
A number of new chairlifts are also being planned to significantly increase skiable acreage, as well as upgraded snowmaking capabilities.
A similar project was proposed in 2014 – Nordic Valley says that elements of that proposal remain in place, while others have been changed on the basis of consultation.
Construction on the gondola is scheduled to begin in the spring of 2020, and be completed for the start of winter operations in the same year. Additional chairlifts and resort facilities will be added throughout the next decade.
