Doppelmayr is building a new 6-seat chairlift at Ischgl, Austria, that is set to cover the greatest elevation difference of any such chairlift in the world: 924 m.
The lower terminus is located at 1924 m above sea level, and up to 2800 passengers per hour will be transported to an upper terminus on the Palinkopf mountain that stands at 2848 m.
In order to operate, the chairlift requires a haulage cable – manufactured by Teufelberger – with a diameter of 58 mm and weight of 65 t.
The chairlift is scheduled to begin operating in time for the forthcoming winter season.
