Two Japanese ski resorts – Kandatsu Kogen and Mineyama Kogen– have chosen to use access systems from Axess AG in the past year.

There are approximately 500 ski resorts in Japan. However, the Mineyama ski resort, north of Kyoto and Osaka, was the first to open in the previous 14 years when it began operating in the 2017 – 2018 season. The resort, which has two ski lifts and three slopes, installed five AX Smart Gates, ‘intelligent’ access gates that can continue to operate in adverse weather. It can be upgraded and retrofitted at any time. In the version with long-range antenna, skiers also enjoyed hands-free ticket checks. Axess also supplied Mineyama with four Axess Smart POS systems for ticket sales.

The Kandatsu Kogen ski resort, located in Niigata Prefecture, also installed ticketing and access systems from Axess as part of upgrades in advance of the 2017 – 2018 season. Axess supplied a total of 18 Axess Smart Gate NG and five Axess Smart POS cash registers, as well as an interface for online ticketing. It is the first access control system to be installed in Kandatsu, as manual ticket control was previously used here. The first season with the new Axess system was a success, with around 204 000 visitors using it smoothly.
